WA Country Health Service visualises better communications with Broadreach
15th December 2009
Broadreach Services is pleased to announce its successful bid for WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) Telehealth videoconferencing central infrastructure contract. Telehealth improves access to health care for the entire state of WA, connecting remote communities to essential health services. This project involves the supply, installation, commissioning, maintenance and support services for core video communications infrastructure.
Videoconferencing is used by Telehealth to provide health services, education, training and support to local health care providers and improve communication between health care providers, who are spread across wide ranging and remote areas of Western Australia. One example is virtual family visiting, where a long stay patient dislocated from their hometown can videoconference with family and friends for emotional and social support.
Broadreach will design and build Telehealth’s central videoconferencing infrastructure to support the current video network and provide a platform for expansion of the service.
A WACHS spokesperson says, "Telehealth looks forward to further developing their relationship with Broadreach services in the development of these services."
"The development of core videoconferencing infrastructure will enable WA Health to further enhance existing educational, management and clinical telehealth services, whilst helping to deal with issues related to workforce shortage and equity of access for rural and remote patients and staff."
Broadreach CEO Shaun Wormald says, "Broadreach is excited about the opportunity to continue working with WACHS by providing enabling technology and services to support such a critical and valuable service to the community.
"Our team has demonstrated its commitment to working with government organisations to provide high quality visual communications solutions, supporting some very large scale projects such as this one," concludes Shaun.
