Broadreach Services, an Australian based leading independent service provider of visual communications and collaboration solutions, today announced that Western Australia’s Country Health Service has extended its contract for the maintenance and support of its Telehealth infrastructure for an additional 12 months.

Telehealth improves access to health care for the entire state of WA, connecting remote communities to essential health services. Broadreach supplied, installed and commissioned the core video communications infrastructure for Telehealth, which was launched in 2010. Since then, Broadreach has continued to maintain the infrastructure and provide support services, as well as technical consulting services.

Videoconferencing is used by Telehealth to provide health services, education, training and support to local health care providers and improve communication between health care providers, who are spread across wide ranging and remote areas of Western Australia. One example is virtual family visiting, where a long stay patient dislocated from their hometown can videoconference with family and friends for emotional and social support.

Broadreach CEO Shaun Wormald says, "Broadreach is excited about the opportunity to continue working with WA CHS over the next 12 months.

“Providing ongoing support to the organisation to help them achieve greater efficiencies and improve health service access for so many people allows us to apply our experience where it is particularly relevant," he concludes.

Broadreach Services is pleased to announce the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) has recertified it as carbon neutral for another year. CRI audits and reports on Broadreach’s continuing emissions, ensuring that all business activity continues to have zero net impact on the environment.

The audit found that Broadreach’s emissions footprint, with the exclusion of cost of sale items, decreased by 27% in FY2011compared to FY2010 (FY2011 was the first year that cost of sale items emissions were calculated). Overall, the majority of Broadreach’s emissions were the result of cost of sales (54%), followed by electricity (23%) and flights (11%). While emissions from electricity increased slightly in FY2011, Broadreach was able to reduce its travel, flight and waste emissions compared to FY2010, while at the same time expanding its operations.

CEO of Broadreach Services, Shaun Wormald says, “Broadreach believes it is important to address its own environmental footprint as it helps other organisations reduce carbon emissions through the efficient use of business video.

“Including cost of sales items in the FY2011 audit improves our understanding of the sources of our emissions and will allow us to identify further opportunities for emissions reductions activities in the years ahead.”

Broadreach Services joined CRI’s NoCO2 certification program in August 2007 and was the first business video company in Australia to be certified. CRI analyses GHG emissions produced by Broadreach’s operations over a one year period for the purpose of reducing and offsetting these emissions.

CRI audits follow the standards outlined by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. This standard is widely accepted as the benchmark for carbon accounting.

Broadreach Services is pleased to announce it has been recertified as carbon neutral by the Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) for 2009. CRI audits and reports on Broadreach Services’ continuing emissions, ensuring that all business activity continues to have zero net impact on the environment.

The 2009 audit found Broadreach increased its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 14% compared with the previous year. This growth in overall emissions is predominantly the result of increases in emissions from its business expenses, asset purchases and electricity usage. Emissions from waste disposed remained static and emissions from travel decreased slightly compared with previous years. Increased GHG emissions can be attributed to Broadreach’s continued expansion. CRI collated data for Broadreach’s Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

CEO of Broadreach Services, Shaun Wormald says, “Broadreach is pleased to be able to grow its business while keeping emissions in check using the information from CRI to actively monitor its footprint and supply chain.

“Broadreach is working with many of its customers to help them minimise emissions by using video communications solutions that reduce travel, making the reduction in its own travel-related emissions important.”

Broadreach Services joined CRI’s NoCO2 certification program in August 2007. CRI analyses GHG emissions produced by Broadreach’s operations over a one year period for the purpose of reducing and offsetting these emissions.

CRI utilises a combination of published life cycle emissions factors and input output tables produced from a CSIRO triple bottom line analysis to calculate emissions impact within Australia. For more information on CRI’s Low Carbon Economy visit www.LowCO2.com.au.

Broadreach Services is delighted to announce an expansion of its service capabilities in Western Australia following the recent appointment of Jason Scrivens and Olivier Bruyendonck as Convergent Technology Engineers. These appointments will enable Broadreach to provide more extensive technical services directly to its growing client base in WA. Broadreach recently announced its successful bid for WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) Telehealth videoconferencing central infrastructure contract and has also been recently chosen by two of the largest WA community organisations to deploy room to desktop video conference solutions.

Jason will be based in Perth, providing technical support services and managing technical operations. Both have expert knowledge in unified communications. Jason has over 10 years experience as an engineer, account manager and networking team leader, including roles with Netlink and Siemens. He holds the Cisco qualifications CCNA, CCDA, CCNA (Voice) and Cisco IP Telephony Design Specialist and a Bachelor of Engineering – Electronic and Communication, as well as Clipsal, Microsoft and Siemens certifications.

While Olivier will be based in Sydney, he will be particularly focused on support for large corporate and government organisations, including in WA. Olivier also has three years pre-sales, implementation and technical support experience with SCC and Dimension Data in Europe, Tandberg and Polycom certifications and a Master’s degree of Electronics and Electrical Engineering.

Broadreach CEO Shaun Wormald says, “Broadreach is excited about bringing on board Jason and Olivier to further assist our clients in the WA market, which has specific challenges.

“Our team has demonstrated its commitment to working with both government and business organizations in WA and throughout Australia to provide high quality visual communications solutions, supporting some very large scale projects,” concludes Shaun.
