We’ve been there before
Examples of our partnerships and how we work with our clients gives a good insight into how Broadreach manages its relationships.
Broadreach and Western Australia’s Country Health Service
Since 2005, Broadreach has worked with Western Australia’s Country Health Services to deliver video conferencing technology to country and mental health service providers, enabling remote and rural patients access to specialists without having to travel to Perth. Since then, Broadreach has enjoyed an ongoing working relationship with WA Health.
The organisation needs
In November 2009, Broadreach successfully bid for WA Country Health Services (WA CHS) Telehealth videoconferencing central infrastructure contract. The contract has been extended to November 2012.
The solution
The initiative enables health stakeholders to use room to desktop video conferencing technology. Telehealth is improving access to health care for patients throughout the entire state of WA, connecting remote communities to essential health services.
Videoconferencing is used by Telehealth to provide health services, education, training and support to local health care providers and improve communication between health care providers, who are spread across wide ranging and remote areas of WA. One example is virtual family visiting, where a long stay patient dislocated from their hometown can videoconference with family and friends for emotional and social support.
Broadreach designed and built Telehealth’s central videoconferencing infrastructure to support the video network and provide a platform for expansion of the service. The project involved the supply, installation, commissioning, maintenance and support services for core video communications infrastructure. Telehealth was officially launched mid 2010.
As a result of the WA CHS video infrastructure project many health providers, both private and public, teaching universities and professional health associations are evaluating the benefits of video communications in health service delivery, learning and development and improved communications.
Over the first 12 months of the contract, Broadreach provided project management and technical thought leadership to Telehealth, ensuring a timely, successful and pain free installation, backed up with ongoing technical support.
Broadreach has also been working with Telehealth to review work practices, and identify opportunities to improve efficiencies. For example, improvements to clinician scheduling, reduced IT system overheads, improvements to the user experience and directory database, and so on, were all conducted by engaging Broadreach’s technical consulting services.
Broadreach is also working closely with its partners to ensure that the open platform, standards-based, cutting-edge innovation improves health service access for WA CHS and assists in relieving some of the pressures on the health system.
